sorry. i was writing in danish, because i saw it was a danish poster.
ok. nevermind. here goes: I have 4 pieces jbl 128h 12 "woofers. seems they lack something in sensitivity (91dB). I'd like better sensitivity, because they are only 100watt. Could such a horn system be good for them? Maybe with 2 or more units? Sincerely, Michael |

Hi, i have an acousto-pro P18110A (specs: VAS 423, Qts 0,54, Qes 0,57, Qms 8,7, Fs 30, Re 6,2, Sens 98dB, Le 1,6 mH, Pmax 300, sd 1288cm2). I would like to make an L48 and use your new plans but i think this speaker needs more chamber space.....you have made 79l this speaker needs about 460l cab if i do an basreflex cab (i have that but i would like to try L48SE).
Is it possible, and what size must my internal enclosor be, and can i in the case that it will work use the unused spaces in your new plan (young croc). Best regards Jocke

Hello there, sorry I didn't see all these posts until now.
If you're doing a new build I wouldn't recommend this design. I made a smaller rearchamber to control excursion, in this case we used mouth extensions (see thread elsewhere for details). But if you were to use these boxes without mouth extensions I would suggest making a port in front, no matter if it is the long or short version. The port and horn can be simmed in hornresp using the "combined response" function. This makes it a ported hybrid horn. This way you get two good things, cooling & low end extension. The port shoud be tuned to work just below the horn cutoff. Best freq is found in hornresp, go for a smooth response downwards, if you get a bump in the low end make the port tunning lower, if you get a dip, make it higher. I will suggest these mods only for people who already have the old boxes. @joahed01: In a brief look the driver doesn't look to suited for a horn, but perhaps a ported hybrid. If you're ever around Copenhagen you're welcome to come have a look |
