I didn't say anything about not being able to run off domestic sockets. I'm happy to follow the rules and I'm sure my system will work fine. I made some bodge leads yesterday so that I can run all my equipment from 13a sockets and all the amps ran up fine.
My point was that you don't need to be limited to using household plugs. If a promotor or venue owner demand it, then that's fair and should be respected, but after a few years of blowing fuses and looking at ancient wiring installations in old buildings I took it upon myself to learn about electric and get some distributuion equipment to allow me to do things differently.
I guess I learnt how to do things with sound from a different school than you guys; the people who taught me showed me how they do and that's what I ran with. If the roots scene does it differentlly then it's not a problem for me.

Bridging it won't make the slightest bit of difference in terms of current draw. 2 channels at 2r = bridged at 4r Also based on the heat the P3000 produces I'd be suprised if it was more efficient than an MA5000 |

Yes I've seen them & heard them, but only internally, & they are nothing special, (I haven't heard them outside) this maybe probably because I've not heard them played well!!! We'll see Sunday if they are any good???? Peace............................. |

Well boys, get yourselves some kit. Its a generator truck every time for me, but then 20 P3000s draw some power! Then 250kW for the lighting is also required, and a standby gene in case of a problem, its all big money I'm afraid.
I looked at a gig today in Belfast. See MTV tomorrow. 2 X 1MW, laAcoustica rig etc on Snow Patrol.... see MTV. |

If an MA5000 is going into protect, it has absolutely nothing to do with running off a 13A socket unless the fuse blows and it all stops.
It is probably faulty and needs servicing. The MA5000VZ should keep going all night no matter how you push it. The ODEP is supposed to progressively reduce gain to keep the amp from going thermal. That's what it's there for. There are quite a few calibrations on the 5000 and if any of them have drifted or havent been checked after a repair, it may not perform as faultlessly as it's designed to. |
