I have a few full range enclosures, which are at the moment empty. They are Built to take 2*15" drivers and a 2" compression driver. The box size is apprx 170Ltrs. Can you suggest a high powered 15" driver which should work well with this?

SN15MB will work well but there are some issues with that conception in general. You should do a 2 1/2way crossover design in order to get some good mids out of your cabs. To do that you have to give an additional lowpass to the lower 15" at let's say 200Hz. And I would crossover the upper 15" to the 2" HF at 800 to 1000Hz. |

Why would you want to wire it up like that? You would just use a 2-way crossover at about 2k, and wire the 15in drivers in parallel. Jamie |

Because then the 15" further away from the tweet is no longer contributing much around x-o => less lobing. However if one crosses low-ish and assumes that nobody is going to be listening off axis (in the vertical sense) one can get away with having both 15s run to x-o as suggested by Jamie.

A single 15" speaker does already beam a lot at 2kHz and you can't really expect the 15" cone to follow the signal at 2kHz. So crossing over as low as possible is an important thing if you want clear, detailed sound and smooth coverage. Adding a second 15" even if they are mounted as near as possible to each other results in interferences (aka lobes) starting at 450Hz. Also beaming in that plane starts at that frequency. With rising frequency the beaming and the interferences are getting worse. So why throwing good speakers into a cab that will be not that good? It would be a waste. The 2+15 + HF thing is a 'full range design', so why don't use the second 15" as 'integrated subwoofer' by lowpassing it at 200Hz? So you have the higher sensitivity in bass range and double the power rating in the range where most power goes to.... plus the good sound the X15 has in the mids.... |

You would have to seal off the area behind the driver you wanted to use for Mid though, and that might not be possible, depending on the design. |

You don't need to do that as only the signal above 200Hz is different and is radiated by the same model of speaker. We measured it a lot, there is no real difference. Of course you have to use two equal speakers.

Been away on business for a while have not seen the replies until today. Thanks for the help, but could i then use the following filters for the best results from these enclosures: Eminence Pxb2-800 2 way crossover on the 1st 15" + Compressionn driver, and Eminence pxb-250 low pass filter on the 2nd 15". These units will be driven, by Peavey CS1000X's which delivers 750rms @ 2 Ohms. |

Even a cheap speaker like the Beyma SM-115K will work very well in this encosure. Kind regards
