it must be only 3/6mm look at the curved route in the first pic. not hard to fix just triple it up ! wont make it any lighter. 
I do a sideline in ply wood wheels.

In addition to the obvious added dymanic of the curve section, which as i haven't heard I can't comment on (but I would place a strong bet...) the green tinge makes me think these babies are in moisture resistant MDF, whcih I can assure is 30% heavier than normal, like I can easy carry 2 x 2440x1220 of MDF but I bought some M/R stuff recently and went to pick a single sheet up and though it was screwed to the floor....
 
But I bet you don't need a sub-harmonic synth with that bean-can wave guide to join in and play along....
