Right, here's one for you guys to try and work out what the hell is going on here.
My (new) small SMPS that I use for active monitor duties is playing up. Bigtime. It's output voltage is around 50% higher than it should be, at 75vDC instead of 50vDC. The adjustment allows ±20v rail swing, from 55vDC to 95vDC (!) - instead of 30v-70v. First thing that occurred to me was that it was buggered. Metered the mains input on the PSU and it came to 330vAC. What the hell I think, how is everything not fried in this room! I go and test the socket, and its 242vAC. The mains input on the PSU- 340vAC and climbing?? WTF.

Update: Now on 365vAC and climbing, expecting something to give soon!

Sounds like a switch mode to me
all switch mode supplys I have scoped input or output to ground fluctuates from 300-380vac at 400-500khz |
