ok why is it wrong? Im new to this and saw a lot of people on youtube having it and the sim looks good so I thought it was a good idea, low weight and 100db sensitivty perfect for battery system. But hey then i might have to build another one with a different driver then. What driver do you recommend with a neo magnet? (need low weight) Edited by roopes - 02 August 2023 at 2:02pm |

Its a mid-bass driver, not bass driver. The 100db sensitivity is from 500Hz to 1500Hz. That has nothing to do how it will do in a subwoofer cabinet.
It has too light cone and not enough x-max to be run down to 40Hz.

But it sure has more efficiency than a speaker with say 85db sensitivity?
I understand that this is not a sub bass, I’m not looking for 20-40hz range. I’m only looking for much spl output and more thump then my soundboks3 to complement it. Usually real subwoofer drivers are harder to drive and sacrifices spl for deeper soundwaves. And with only a battery driven amplifier I don’t think it will be loud enough to tag along with the soundboks. What driver would you have chosen? If weight and efficiency is key, has to have good sim or real world test.

Yes and the recommended beyma is like 85db at 65-70hz so not too far away? But that driver is 10kg. So I ask the third time, what driver do you recommend? Edited by roopes - 02 August 2023 at 9:42pm |

Again a mid-low box. Not a subwoofer box. Something like 12NBX100 would be my choice, or Beyma 12LEX1000nd |

The Beyma 12P80nd gives almost exactly the same response as the B&C 12NDL76 in a 2.83V sim. The Beyma has a 4" voice coil vs a 3" for the B&C and has an extra 0.5 mm Xmax But is nearly double the cost. Given that Roopes is building a relatively low power system for battery use I would not expect over excursion or thermal compression to be much of a problem. As far as I can see the Sim Roopes has posted for the B&C 12NDL76 is taken directly from Martinsons own blog! If you look thru the sims listed there it looks good compared with the alternatives. But all the sims shown are 1Pi, so On the floor & next to a back wall. The Tham 12 needs about a 40hz hi pass - and in my opinion is a bit small for a 12" TH! |

But it works. And the audible difference between 12P80nd and 12lx60 is very very little. The tiny difference are well worth the 5kg less total weight
