The High Pass frequency sets the bottom end of the range covered by each band (ie everything higher than the frequency is passed through) The Low Pass frequency sets the top end of the range covered by each band in your system. So a typical sub might have a high pass of 35Hz and a low pass of 90-120Hz (exact values being entirely dependant on what your speakers need of course). Your mids might then have a high pass of 90Hz (or 120, as above) and a low pass of 1600Hz. Your top would then have a High pass of 1600Hz. So, every band will have at least a high pass, and most bands will have a low pass as well.
