27" tall by 20.5" wide by 13.5" deep - you may have to increase depth to clear the woofer's motor
rough sketch and input z

Just out of interest. Could the wings be cut straight? Does it make a difference?

Asking as they look fairly simple to construct, except the radial cut...

Looks interesting. Is that your own design? What are the recommended drivers?
I have some volt radials that i would like to try out, maybe that would be a nice box for them?
Curved cuts with a decent jigsaw are easy enough, as long as you have a steady hand.

It's a very old design coming out of the States I believe. Ohm copied it at one time and produced them. The shape does seem important. Whether it's better than anything else is another matter.
There was an HF horn following the same principle shaped like a needle. We used some many years ago building a few systems for Bill Kelsey when he was at TFA Electrosound.

It seems to be essentially a band-pass design, where the effective volume of the front chamber varies with frequency (?). I also guess it only really affects the upper range, though there might be some evil magick at play.. who knows? Wink

In that regard, it probably can be cut straight, but a (slight) change in loading and frequency response has to be expected.. as one would expect from the difference between an exponential and conical horn Censored, for example.

Thanks Tony. I did dome research and the design is from the 1950's.
It looks like a simple design which could be built in a day. Not sure how it will sound, but it certainly looks good.

Yes, Karlson bin.  Member Freddi was very big into these (he hasn't been around here for over 12 months), and was full of knowledge on them.

If its a box you want to build yourself then a ES15 (modified ES18) with the right driver would also do the trick.
Not a lot of 15" kicks will play upto 250hz without sounding a bit honky.
