I was wondering - can this really be true, and even better has anyone ever tried them? I'm a bit sceptical since the 12" version apparently is just as efficient...

Take out the space at the front. HK make decent kit. 104db for a foh cab isn't what it used to be;

Years ago, measuring this Premium 15" model, I have discovered that HK specifies their cabinet efficiency in very tricky way. Their method is like "peak half space" so to get the "real" average efficiency you must remove 3dB for boundary loading (full space to half space) and 2~4dB to go from "peak efficiency" to "average efficiency". Thus when they say 104dB "peak half space", it's more like 98dB "average full space".
