Been looking into maybe building my first set of 1850's at some point soon, and noticed some people talking about loonie bins. Are these the same thing? if not, what's the difference?

They aren't the same thing, loonies are an 1850 but with a slightly tweaked design and an OEM driver in to give better performance sold by pro audio parts.

you should they are good cabs! sound awesome with the void v-18 1000 in plus they are a bit cheaper than the PD driver.
