Which BMS did you try, and they didn't impress mate?
Was that with passive xover, or fully active tuned with LMS?

Is true bullets have certain characteristic hf tone that is distinct and desirable.

I just find it objectionable, needing 4-8x hf units, to keep up with 1x 110db 2".

Would rather nice flattened 16khz resp from 1x 1", than 8x bullets giving  20hkz.

When DJ "moody cd quality", is playing his 96k mp3 rips from "youthtube", I'll be crying less than the bullet ppl, as I'll have spent less. LOL

hows it going lev..ive got the bms 4550 plus, which i think are crisp & sound smooth,,top comps,..but i like to bring in the bulletts in 9k going through a bss fds310,then into a matrix xt800,..to be honest mate i like that raw sound sometimes,..im always mixin & machin,,to the dude who started the thread off,..dont take my word for it,,yuve got 4 nice cabs ther & you dont want to be ruining the sound of them with cheap bulletts,or bulletts fullstop,i would make seperate boxs for the bulletts & put the bms comps in the cabs..best of boths worlds then,. i only like the sound ov the bulletts wen pushed ,.they havnt got the sesetivity ov the bms 1"s..no were near, but like i say, them mcn bulletts have ther own sound which i like wen pushed,,but if i listen to a comp on its own then put the bulletts on it sounds raw,& vice versa,.for playing out which im sure ther made for id stick with comp drivers.but thats agen down to personal taste.but if its going to be all active then you can bring them in & out to suit yourself,..& yes lev i dont know that much about db specs etc but them 2s dont need much volume to be heard Thumbs Up

For the OP, Ive used those ebay bullets in my 121s and gone for 4 per cab. Sounds very nice and definately makes up for the lack of high end that the system had. It is a bit of a squeeze but you can get them into the 121 cab, saving the hassle of building a new box (if that wasnt already your plan)

Cheers lev, I think it makes them look pretty mean like!

Ive got the whole rig going through a tubbys 3 way pre, with the outputs summed and into an ultradrive (criminal act to many on here probably) and then split 5 way. Bullets are to be ran off one side of a t amp 2400 and the comps off the other.

As for wiring, each box has 2 pairs of bullets in series, wired in parrallel the two cabs are then run in 4 ohm wired in parrallel.

Recently did a night with Sinai Sound on here using his bass section and my midtops - the two of them easily covered the 4 pd1850 'secret design' scoops ran hard on a void infinite 8 and 4x reflex 15" kick section. Plenty of tss tss tss specialist! Wink

I think jah hamma has a similarly modded mt 121 in his rig, but just the one.

Thank you BassHorse and lionPawsoundsystem for your info and help.
Ive ordered some of those ebay bullets too..

lionPawsoundsystem  what drivers do you have in your MT121s (12" and CD)?
how does the t amp 2400 handle them?

Thanks

Has anyone really measured the response of array of cheap bullets?

I suspect that even if a single one would hit 20khz, the destructive interference from using several will render 20khz pretty much useless.

2bit, Im running pd 123er on the 12 and p-audio BMD750 for the comps.

T amp runs the 12s and the bullets at the moment and does a good job, no complaints and has proven to be a solid amp for the very low price tag.
