HI everyone

wondered if someone here could help with PSU knowledge

I need to find a PSU which can supply 45w, 12v and about 3.95A. Its for a blackmagic multibridge pro video capture device.

It needs to have a 6mm x 2mm(centre hole) jack (this is what tech support told me)

I dont want to buy the official one for £55 - too pricey (got the kit for peanuts even tho it cost lots new)

Could I use a toshiba laptop powersupply like this? This one says 19v / 75w ...assuming it will fry it?

Thanks

A

If you want 12v you should look at 12v psu's, not 19v ;)

Be sure not to take a really cheap one as it may damage your stuff.

Maplin do a nice multi voltage laptop-style psu with a selection of 'ends'. Surprisingly they're a competitive price.

one of these... cut the end off of it and wire your plugs end to it, getting the polarity rite, and jobs a good'un

Common as muck at fleamarkets/bootfairs .... 4A capable ones a bit less so, but still not hard to find.
Usually supplied with small monitors/TVs.

The connector will likely be 5.5mm outer with 2.1mm inner.

Should be plentiful on ebay also ...

does it matter if its 5A and not 4A? Does it mean the device just wont 'use' that extra 1A?

Cheers :)

it means its capable of 5A... even a 4A laptop PSU wont use the full 4A all the time
