Client recently requested quote, to get a pair of my design, 21" Scoops.
I requested quote from builder I know, for finished pair, grilled, wired, ready to load. After receiving quote, I needed a drink, and to sit down for a moment.. |

inflation looks to have stalled due to energy prices stabilizing and sometimes even lowering. but cost of living is, prices of imported raw materials are still going up and skilled labour is finally starting to recieve the money they deserve. the bubble still hasn't burst.

If I could build, I would be quids in !! There was not much left in pricing to add my share, so I just recommended client to get some Scoops off Kutty. Maybe when I sell 4x of my .44s, will be time for 4x of my 21s.

Hello everyone , i am thinking of building 4x 21 inch scoops but i have a problem with driver choice. the pd 2150 is no longer available, so i was wondering if anyone has tested any new drivers or which ones are currently the best for this box. I would like it to be a neodymium driver for longer durability. I was thinking of using a CVR AUDIO 4ohm:2x5600W 2ohm: 2x9500W amplifier, so that is the maximum power that can be used. I would like the same amp to work for me if in the future I build two more scoops and work at 2.6ohm because I don't trust that amp to work well at 2 ohm. If someone answers me, thank you very much for your time and help. Bless |

If you don't trust it with a 2 Ohm load, don't run it with a 2,6 Ohm load
Regarding drivers, quite some options, but not cheap. Even then, as far as I am aware, not many 21" designs around. You are probably ending up with something custom if you want to do it right.

If its the 21 superscoop from speakerplans , i heard it with 21ds115 and its great . But im sure some others would work nice , the sound of the 21 scoop is by definition slower/heavier than an 18 scoop . If you put a stronger motor driver like the 21ds or some 18 sound offerings like the 9601 you can expect a bit of a more defined sound than lets say a 18 sound 18lw1400 which will play in with the slowness/heaviness.

What Sypa said is accurate. I had 18LW1400's in my 8 initially. Very warm scoop sounding, but smoke after 1400 watts. The 18NLW21-9601 for brutal SPL, the eminence 6ohm 21s also. Given them both HEAP loads of power and they take it all no sweat.
I've been using admarks and CVR's, slight preference to admark. The chinese girls are very helpful if anything goes wrong. They will send parts for repair, even whole channels for less agro if you want. Good Luck
