Can anybody identify this damaged Celestion 18" driver please, it came out of a Tannoy B950 vented sub bass enclosure, there is something on the side of the magnet to identify the model, but it's unreadable. It has a 4" voice coil & is rated at 300w RMS. Tannoys reference is 4501 but I have drawn a blank on locating a recone kit. I have been in contact with Doc at Celestion, he thinks it may be a a T4447 which is a BX18-4085 as used by Martin. I have tried Lockwood but they can't help, and am still waiting to hear back from at Tannoy. The driver is damaged and I would like to get it fixed or replaced.

Hi.

The BX 18-4085 is rated 600 watts. The driver you have might be the BX 18-3075 (300 watts) or BX 18-3085 (400 watts). However, the BX 18-3075 & BX 18-3085 offered a 3-inch voice coil. If you are certain the voice coil is 4-inches then, the driver you posses is indeed a BX 18-4085.

Nevertheless, the BX 18-4085, BX 18-3085 in addition to the BX 18-3075 was designed for folded horns. I actually have three, BX 18-4085 sitting in cardboard boxes for nearly 20 years.

The closest replacement to those drivers would be the Precision Devices PD 1850.

Best Regards,

I just double-checked. I have four, BX 18-4085 woofers residing in cardboard boxes.

Hi Elliot, thanks for all the information. Tannoy got back to me today and have given me a contact for recone kit :) So with any luck I'll be rattling windows again soon! All the best, Jude
