Generally you are right valvehead... but then with the supers even ren (who plays VERY BALANCED to say the least and hifi quality) didnt really get on with 21" supers and went back to his 18s. You have to remember the superscoop is a bad design for the PD1850 so the chances are the 21" super is a bad design for the 2150. Problem as usual is there's too many builders and not enough good designers.

We do have one modded 21 super which was an experiment and drops heavier.
agreed about designers/builders, but if designed for static use, maybe a bigger design without limitations of lifting them would make the best of 21 inch drivers. |

Most 21" boxes are too small to extract the full potential of the driver. People making them the same size as 18s but wonder why they barely getting the results of an 18 only.

Exactly that. Paulus correctly talks about "premium 18 Scoops". Premium 21" Scoop, would need to be designed around premium 21" driver, to exceed Qss/Marvin Redeye combo, S118, SteveB, Wattco, with '50. Edited by levyte357- - 17 November 2016 at 2:08pm |

Id buy 21" mini/midi/full scoop providing the box/driver could play some serious 30-45hz. The 50hz could match a gd 50 scoop and that would be fine. But below that especially 30-40hz id want it to walk all over 18s and be in a different league

Playing strong 30-40hz will require quite larger box then a typical 18 inch full scoop.
Or a group of 4-6 boxes. 21 inch horns are not very popular perhaps because the increased logistics needed. Also there is the question of the spl. I do have 21 inch BLH, they do go down to 32hz as a pair, but they are 102db so they do get outruned by my 18 inch horns in terms of spl. But in a block of 9, oh my god, that is some true experience.
