I've been looking at different horn and sub setups after being recommended pa horns elsewhere. Then i discovered compression horns and found this (http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-trailer-mounted-bike-sound-system/) Instructable for a trailer speaker, i would follow the instructions exactly except that the resulting system is vastly more heavy than anything i could hope to pull and the enclosure is physically too large for my application. i think part of the weight and size problem is that they are using big and heavy car amplifiers and an oversized subwoofer so im wanting to scale it down a bit but otherwise do the same thing. I don't need a huge subwoofer for earth shattering bass but i do need punchy bass for mostly electronic dance music and a bit of pop music so i think i could get away with a smaller subwoofer. I'd like to know if the P-Audio BMD750 compression horn used in the Instructable and an 8" Dayton Audio SD215A-88 subwoofer would run off 1 or 2 Maxamp20 class D amplifiers (http://store.accusafe.nl/modules/versterkers/maxamp20-met-3-5mm-connector)? Also how do I pick appropriate crossovers? and can i run it off one or more 12v batteries as long as they have high enough capacity?

i've tried working my way through some of the information in the sticky posts but to quote Homer Simpson "new stuff pushes old stuff out of my brain" and all the technical and even some of the simple lingo and information has mostly just confused me...

Have a look on the 12V section of this forum.
A number of threads there will have details you need. I have a thread (further down) on the Baby Sham Pram SoundSystem

http://forum.speakerplans.com/baby-sham_topic90541.html

I have details on there showing the speakers, amp, breaker, voltage display and battery. I use a 15w per channel amp and it puts out enough for a small crowd.

Plenty of other people have details of larger offerings on the 12v section of this forum.

I am sure they will be able to cope with that. As to links, I tend to go to the page and then use the E-mail link option in the browser to get the link then copy it into where I need it. I am sure there is an easier way but I don't know it Embarrassed
