Would it be possible to put a grill where the red line is? To prevent things from getting inside the horn? I really like the look of an open horn, and don't want to put a full grill in. Would this affect the sound quality? |

Wire mesh would work well and stop alot of the usual fodder getting up there (cans, plastic cups, flyers)

What would be the best way to attach the mesh? To avoid rattling and/or it coning loose?

If you are in the process of building these then you could put a shallow saw cut in the top and bottom panels. Then cut the grill oversize (height wise), and spring it into the saw cuts so that the grill is slightly convex.
The only problem is that unless you have full face grills people will still use the hornmouth as a cloakroom/drinks store. Edited by markie - 18 March 2017 at 10:46am |

I have no problem with people using them to put stuff on, but I want to prevent any possible damage. Would I have to glue it in place? I feel like it would come loose because of the vibrations... Edited by Futendra - 18 March 2017 at 4:58pm |

A generous amount of small L brackets evenly spaced around the perimeter holding the mesh should do a pretty good job and be easy to retrofit with a small or right angle screwdriver
