I have an old JBL subwoofer that I would like some help identifying.

It has a 15" driver, the previous owner removed the crossover and the driver is not original so no help from that side.

Quite a robust looking enclosure with a heavy steel front grill.

I remember some mention in the past of XB15 or XBO15, but I think this was related to the crossover.

Anyway, I picture speaks a thousand words, so:

I hope someone is able to help me identify this then I can work towards finding it a new driver, crossover and finally a new home.

Regards,
James

The box was sold empty so just about any driver could be found in them, but JBL also sold it loaded with a 2226h which isn't a half bad driver even today. http://www.jblpro.com/pub/cinema/4647a.pdf
What driver does your box have and does it work? If it's the above JBL and it doesn't work then just have it reconed.

Sorry for the delay getting back, I've been away on holiday, followed by a manic RSL job.

I hadn't looked at it in ages, it sat in the back of my garage for the best part of the past 10 years and now I've decided I need the space.

I still don't even know if it makes noise, but I can now say that the box contains a passive crossover that looks homebrewed and isn't connected. The driver fitted is an Eminence ME15-2008.

Sadly nothing about the box seems in any way valuable, but it might get someone started?

It looks like it will find it's way into the For Sale section. Perhaps I can break my run of bad luck on eBay, the last amplifier I sold (an HH V800) is coming back to me because the fan makes too much noise for the guy to use as part of a HiFi in his front room! The heartbreaking thing is that I spent ages refurbishing the pair of HH V800s and bought new handles, power switches and capacitors for them, now they are just sitting here gathering dust again (well one is, the other one is due back any day now).

Unless someone is directly interested I won't be putting much work in, the box will be sold as seen (I might give it a quick test out of curiosity), but listed as is either way.

Thanks again for the help identifying the box, if I understand correctly it didn't originally contain a passive crossover, so that is something to cross off the list.

Regards,
James

Cheers Dub Specialist Sound, I thought there would be too.

I saw a couple go for silly money on ebay, selling mine has been nothing but hassle.

I guess I must be in the wrong part of the world for people to come and collect, has anyone here got a favourite courier for VERY HEAVY amplifiers?

Regards,
James
