seems to be the big question with the punishers

is there an alternative driver?

whats the big problem with the ciare, its cheap as chips and works a beaut in these bins.
i realise they are a bit power hungry but that can be an advantage in the hire market cus a lot of people are only interested in how many 'K' your runnin.
if these bins only start lovin it with 1.5kw, then with a stack of 4 you can honestly say that its 6k of bass in 4 cabs (thats gota be impressive to those that dont know)

LAB-12 might work with a real small rearchamber but I wouldn't bother because the small 63mm coil can only withstand a fraction of the power the Ciare with its big 4" coil can handle.. I would rather use the P-Audio SD-12 then Eminence LAB-12..

"Hornresp predicts that the frequency response from the Lab12 is kinda spikey. Originally it was advised against as the price of the Ciare and Lab is pretty much the same over here. Should flatten out in stacks tho.

Hello mobiele eenheid,

Thank you for posting!... I am curious: how much are the LAB12 and Ciare 12.00SW over there?...

Can you try to model it Mircea.

I have 4 LAB12 drivers that i can try in a punisher.
Hello Marjan,

It would be great to have some idea how the LAB12 would perform in the punisher cab?...

Thanks!

Hello VPAS,

This means the LAB12 would cost about $190.00USD and the Ciare about $108.00USD in Europe... Anyone up for a trade?...

Hello VPAS and Walt,

My concern is that it does take a lot of power to push the Ciare as opposed to the LAB12 or something similar... I wonder if the smaller coil diameter of the LAB12 is a part of the power rating equation?... In my circumstance it would be great if I could push two puns with a total of 800watts at 4-ohms...

Thanks!

Kevin

Well it seems that LAB12 is not so brilliant in the punisher.

As for the power handling of the LAB12. People use them in a LAB SUB and put up to 2000W per box, which is 1000W per driver.

LAB12 has a 65mm diameter coil but it is much longer then any coil i have seen in my live. More then 30mm, and has lots of vents to exchange heat.

Ciare 12.00SW has 4" diameter 33mm long coil so not that bad either.

Best regards,

Walt

Hi Guys,

I asked Bartic to plot the Eminence "Definimax 4012HO" and "Delta-12LFA" because they are very close to the SD12 in comparison... It would be nice if one of these worked well because I have a very good relationship with the folks at Eminence and I can get very good pricing on their drivers...
