A dealer local to me is starting to sell come cabs very like HD`s
It has two main differences.



1 There is no compression area.The curved piece just butts upto the driver baffle.
2. the back brace is curved.
 
Will they work without this compression area, is it essential?
Does the curved section (as opposed to straight) do much good?
 
They werent loaded when i saw them so couldnt have a listen. Gonna pop in with some pd1550`s and see what the sound like.

the curved reflector makes no difference. ommiting the piece of wood which gives seperated the throat volume from the start of the horn DOES and WILL make a big difference. i'm guessing it wont go as as low or sound as good

I theory it won't go as low but it should also perform better higher up.  Might make it more of an 80Hz upwards kick bin rather than a 60Hz and up cab.

Looks definetly like it will go louder, throw further, with reduced sub. Taken away BP and made  a full FLH he has. Increase rear chamber to lower response.

By removing the front chamber he's made it into a single fold offset driver horn. You can model this on hornresp if you wish, there's a tool for it.

Well these cabs have seen the  light of day.

Price has gone up £200 since i saw them. Hope the build quality has gone up. Flimsey curved section, Wood screws securing access panel!Wacko

looking at the other cabs in the "range" it looks like they use Celestion drivers.

Dont think they are Celestion. I was shown a couple of `their` drivers. 15" + 18". Looked very much like unbranded chinese. Cast chassis if i remember correctly

Yes.........They do sell some sh*te. They are fine for odd bits and bobs in an emergency (they are only round the corner from me).
These are probably a step up from the piezo / skytronic / generic crap they sell.
