They sound alright but to me, the B-Line 800's sounded better. What was at the back of my mind was much cheaper lighter drivers in a G-Sub would/could sound better.

As mentioned many times before, the reflex cab for a pair of the v1200's has to bigger than a standard G-Sub for it to perform extremly well.

does nobody own 1200s in reflex cabs ? because help is harder to get on here than it seems. Would be great if somewhere there was someone saying "here build this, its not complicated to build and your 1200s would sound great in it" Unhappy

Do you want the dimensions for a large reflex box for the V1200's?  Would only take me a few minutes to work out?

Don't seems like it as the cab would be too big to hump around. Would suit a club install though!

Give it a read & see what you think!

One of the most important quote from it!

Try doing a sim with the Void V18-1200 in your reflex cabs.

The best double 18" reflex I can come up with is a 520 litre box tuned to 31Hz. This gives a max output at 30Hz of 130dB with 2400 watts in.

Maximum acoustic output at 30Hz is 131.7dB. I used two 200 mm ports 155 mm long and used 2400 watts for the max SPL, Xmax and port velocity calculations. Xmax is not exceeded anywhere above 28Hz, which is very good.

Here are the T/S for the V18-1200

Fs         30Hz
Qms      5.779
Vas       289.5 liters
Cms      0.152 mm/N
Mms      196 g
Rms       6.214 Kg/s
Sd         1158 sq cm
Qts        0.322
Qes       0.341
Re         5.3 ohms
Le         2.49 mH
BL         23.63 Tm
no         2.21 %
SPL       95.6 dB
Xmax    12.95 mm
Xmech   19.43 mm
Pwr       1200 w rms

I stick with my previous suggestion.  Build a BIG reflex, about 250L with a BIG port tuned to 35-ish Hz.

Simplest and most likely to work first time.  You could end up with a lot of prototypes trying to get a scoop right.

Now I'm not sure about how the cone would hold up..

Spot on, exactly what I would say. The V18-1200 is very picky about what it works in, but would definetly work in large reflex with correct tuning.[/QUOTE]

your g subs have a reduced internal volume to the plans, so maybe a standard g sub would sound a touch better

my honest view on this is if you don't know how to use the v18-1200 why not just sell it and get something more established, like 2 pd186s in a g sub

That really is the best idea, stephen.

I mentioned it couple of times previously, PD186/V18-1000 will give you huge range of proven cabs to choose from.

But not the same ones!
