I've been out the game since MC2 stared making their E series lightweight amps. The general consensus was that the MC2 MC1250, EV P3000, Macrotech 5000 etc couldn't be matched by lightweight amps for sub duties.. Is this still the case? If not, which lightweight amps would be considered on par with a P3000 for sub duties?
thanks guys Edited by Beast - 17 September 2018 at 12:32pm |

Thanks for the comments. So assuming I wanted around 3-4kw into 4r bridged (continuous, 20hz-20khz) which switching amps would I need to be looking at in order to match a P3000 or MC1250 for out and out sub duties?

Several switching amps can deliver 4K+ at 4 ohm per channel. No need to bridge anything.

If you are not running a dub sound, and do soundsystems for a living, as opposed to fun/playing in barn to your friends.
Then Powersoft K20, or 2x Void Inf8Mk2, will properly power 8x 1850 Scoops, and IMHO, only thing that would come close to above 2x, is Powersoft X series. End of argument.

Heaviest dub sounds in UK, WSP, Aba, Iration, JTS, all use Powersoft.
Something to think about. |

I would ask what you’re going to put that much continuous power into? The biggest rated drivers will burn if you give them more than 600-700w long term. Fact. You should base your amp purchase on the peak voltage capability of an amp compared to your boxes. Another reason why the Powersoft is popular. |

IIRC, EV P3000 is not rated for 4 ohm bridge.
Also MC2-1250, no longer has serviceable parts available. If I were looking for amp to use on 4 ohm bridge, I know of few from QSC family, superior to above 2x.
