Which is the best driver for the MT122 ?????

Im just about to start to build a pair, When looking a the plan abit more closer, the rear chamber is to small to fit the recommended drivers,

Speakerplans recommend  the P Audio SN12B NEO Which is 152.00mm deep !! & the P Audio C12 300MB is 147.7 mm deep !!

The rear chamber is only 148 mm deep ( on the plan )

The C12 300 MB will go but will it cool ok ???

I have been thinking of using the fane colossus 12MB 450watt or the fane 12 Classic 300watt, Which are not as deep and will give more clearance in the rear chamber ?????????

Has anyone tryed the fane's with the P Audio SD 750N or the P Audio BMD 750  in the MT122 ?????????

Cheers guys

hadn't realised that!

i made a slightly bastardised modular version of the mt122 with the removeable rear pannel altered so it fits to the outside of the sides and top/bottom. the sn12 fits in here and they sound good i'm about to stick some wood inside the rear chamber to restore the correct volume. it also means that the rear pannel is easy to take on and off.

might be an idea.

cheers

Aren't the drivers rebated also? This might make up the difference and I'm sure adding 5mm to the design won't kill anyone :)

I dont think the drivers are rebated  (as per plan) but it mite be a option has anyone tryed this ????

The fane colossous 12MB drivers are only 137mm deep would this be any benefit for cooling etc or would i have to put more timber in the rear chamber to keep the volume the same as per plan ????

Does the rear chamber have to be small as possible like the porn horn ??

Cheers guys

One thing you may not have noticed with the SN12MB's is that the cooling vents are in the side near the spider so can have a rear chamber more or less touching the back

Maybe something 'someone' could do is perhaps list the hornresp input data so anyone can simply enter their driver details and see the result? Maybe a sticky on each(horn) forum? Then anyone can just see for themselves!

What you have to remember is the cab was actually originally designed around the PD123ER which is only 128mm deep...
"It sounded like a million fire engines chasing ten million ambulances through a war zone and it was played at a volume that made the empty chair beside me bleed."
