As you all know by now I'm computer stupid. This is todays problem. My desktop computer is the sort you have to strike a flint to fire it up and it's still on Windows XP which is no longer supported.
For whatever reason it's running really slow so I bought a nice (second hand) new one which is on Windows 7.
Now what I want to do is transfer my "My documents" folder to the new one so I bought a memory stick (32G). I tried draggging it across to the memory stick but it just shows as a "shortcut to My Documents" and has a size of just 1kb.
What have I done wrong and how do I rectify it.
Thanks in advance.

I think you need to do the following:
go to My Documents right-click and "select all" then right-click and "copy" go to the memory stick right-click and "paste" |

If you are not using your old one anymore, you could just add the old hard drive to your new desktop and you would've access to all the files :)
