Hi from across the pond. Over here in the US, there is a sound company who has been making big waves for the past few years called Hennessey Sound Design. They really like FLH's and their main sub, the "Battleaxe" has many people I respect claiming its their favorite design of all time.  Have you guys ever heard of these over there, or have any idea what these designs are based on?

I have the absolute most respect for you guys over on this forum as you guys taught me damn near everything I know about speaker design. so I am curious as to what you guys think.

Heres their flagship, the Battleaxe:
its a 21" in FLH, with -3 at 28hz and -10 at 22

thanks! cheers!

There’s a dance on tonight in Los Angeles. They’re running 2 of 24” Sherman sub boxes which weigh 450lbs each, the sound bought a small forklift to move the boxes around. They run 18’s for mid-bass.

-3db at 28Hz is probably for 4 or 6 boxes. Those are too small to do that with one box.
But a killer subs for sure.

Calling something that goes thud thud thud thud however splendid the thud might be  "The Battleaxe" is a somewhat misguided misappropriation.  Here in Anglo Saxon culture  it is popular term of endearment for an elderly rather uptight extremely feisty female.

DMZ. "The bass was intense. Girls were literally running up to stand next to the subs"

I'm instantly reminded of the last MetalHedz night I went to. A pair of very similar looking 21s provided furious bass lines. I think it was the Leisure Lounge, maybe 1997.

I went to check these out last night. They were using 2 x 24” sub boxes (each sub box approximatley 6’ deep 4’ tall and and 3’ wide)  They also had 2 double 18” boxes on each side of the 24’s. The event was for reggae dub and drum n bass. If you stand right in front of the boxes you couldn't feel any real pressure but when you stood 25+ feet away then you could feel the sub in the ground. These subs cost around $8000 each or more, the build quality was great. Now just my opinion and don't take this the wrong way. 've heard a lot of boxes in 35 years. G-subs or good scoops would have done the same thing or more.

Yeah. There are a lot of sound systems popping up in Los Angeles (actually up and down California).
