Hi Guys,
I have just been given a HH Electronics Micro-30 Amp, Do you guys have any information on this amp? Value, Quality etc etc.
Just some info :
(As Read from the back of the speaker)
Rec No: 13
Date: 12/7/1975
Sign: (Either Yan, Y&N, or something like that, My eyes arnt great)
EDIT: I have already checked the sticky thread on here that shows information about vintage amps and it has a leaflet about the Micro-30 on it. But i want some "Real" info from people who have actually used or have used one.
Cheers

Nice little polished wood keyboard amp, lots of TL072s in it, clean sound .. 10" speaker.
30 to 50 quid. They do look nice if the original solid wood outer is polished up and varnished nicely. |

depends what you mean by "work" ... will it take a signal in and make it louder, yes, sure it will. Wil your guitar be loud? sure it will.
Will you be able to get a range of sounds, with differing levels of compression and distortion .. with scooped mids for lead and a nice crunched sound and a clean sound thats as loud as the overdriven sound and get good overdriven sounds at low levels and ... ....... well, probably not. as I remember its basically a "clean" amp, with no master volume. If you want some decent guitar sounds, why not sell that one on on eBay to a 70's keyboard enthusiast who will pay good money for it if its in nice condition (maybe more than 50 quid .. .60 or 70 even?) and put the cash towards something like one of the Vox 'vlavetronic' series guitar amps, that will give you far more control and fun, and probably pick one up for 60 or 70 quid .. the micro 30 is fine .. but its not a guitar amp, might be best to let some keyboard junkie fall in love with it :) |

Ok, According to the Leaflet about the amp, It supports High and low range guitars.
http://www.hhamplification.co.uk/ampcompic.asp?bigpics=dbfiles/amps/micro30.jpg So i have run my guitar through it, its fine.. When it is plugged into the Low input. BUT, You dont hear anything unless you have every knob set to maximum. Its also quite Crackley. Any ideas? |

Ok, Are you refering to Capacitors drying out?
Is the only fix to replace them? Edited by cessna tomtom - 15 October 2010 at 6:52pm |

Yes. But to be honest, if you have to ask that, it would be better to take it to a repairer.
