I wouldn't get too hung up over the xmax, as every manufacturer measures it differently.
As long as the voice coil height (hvc) is about 5mm longer than the magnetic gap length (hag) you should be ok.
If it is much more than 8mm longer than chances are other parameters will mean the driver is unsuitable. Especially the efficiency will usually be too low. Edited by Glenn - 15 May 2009 at 11:22am |

Besides that... Xmax gets pretty academic when a speaker works from 200Hz and up. Xmax of 1-1,5mm is plenty. My list ( for what it's worth ) :1) Beyma 122Nd absolute top in efficiency and sound, lightweight is nice too 2) B&C 12PE32 and Beyma 12MI100 can't hear a difference between those two 4) RCF L12P110K just a tad less soundwise, but the weight is a killer Edited by Peter Jan - 15 May 2009 at 12:32pm |

i saw two beyma 122nds go for £100 on ebay.
my ex girlfriend convinced me i shouldn't be spending the cash unless i knew what i'd do with them. SO ANGRY that i missed them lol
