it had a different sound then the bandpass x1...

x1 sounded cleaner/lower but i liked the sound the hog was throwing out with that jungle track you played

we need to build a wicked one next, and compare that to it.  the only down side is the wicked one is difficult to power

I reckon I'll go for the standard design with V1000's in if I build hogs then.

PLS dont build the standard design mate, they make ur speakers go pop!

If your a junglist go for a G-SUB! or maybe even a 1850 box!

Question

why posting this link in 3 threads with no apparent link to the subject ?

cabs don't make speakers go pop, too much power and clipping take care of that. And tweeter, Heathrows mods weren't that drastic, so I don't think there'll be much of a difference, especially when it comes to driver stress as the throat and chamber are exactly the same.

Definately!

But my personal favourite when the roots reggae music was played is the PD1850.

HBL & GIVEorTAKE you may think different. We definately need a stack of 4 to really know what's possible.

Over time, maybe a Hog link-up may happen!

Well impressed with that x1 loaded with the v18-1000. The last one I heard didn't sound convincing at all, but have no idea what was in it.

Adambomb, your system must sound serious!

No wonder the 2nd hand v18-1000's are getting scraped up as they are so versatile.

Both drivers were good.  there needs to be a straight test between them though

The only reason i favour the void over the pd is that it has the bigger voice coil but i think if you can pick up the pd driver cheap that will make a good combo too.

The only way to decide would be if you spanked them hard  for four to six hours each running in your own mega distortion fashion, then which ever survives or knocks the other one out would be the champ. it would be an interesting test to see which driver could cope with the added heating of all that extra distortion being played through it.

But i do remember when we dropped 21seconds so solid through the pd1850...  everyone was looking shocked at the sound that came out of it.

I stack of four and i bet the hog will start sounding proper smooth... no ripples just a flat response.

on the x1 note, 2 x1's are the same size as 1 full scoop.  but im sure we agree that 2 x1s have more output then one scoop... whether its worth double the amount of drivers and double the amp power to get this advantage is another matter entirely.  Plus its too clean for you Wink

im the one who pointed it out to everyone, if i didnt they wouldnt have noticed...  even the hammer test showed that this was one of the three weak points in my cab.   if you read my comments on the build thread you will see why is still not braced pedro. ive been looking at the plan again so there are changes i will make.  but these can only happen once i decide which driver to go with.  the lid was ok when the porn horns are straped above it.

the real shame was we didnt test the hog laying down...  time was definitely against us
