I would've thought that you could probably work out a design fairly easily on horn-resp... Infact I'm going to make it my job over the next few days to do so, as I'd love to make some for my Looneys!

If I can't work out how to do it with that I might have a go at designing some using brain power. Was speaking to a guy from Funktion 1 recently, and he said that the expansion rate of the horn really wasn't overly crirical for subs, so I figure if it doesn't look to stupid it should work ok... Can get it tested properly anyway.

I'll post all the details up here.

Just thinking about the practicalities of such a device, and its going to mean having a number of holes made in the bins. Firstly the bins will have to be secured together, then the flare extension rigidly to them, which will involve making at least 4 holes (which can be blanked of when not in use) for bolts to fit through, which I'm not overly keen on.. Are there any other ways of temporarily securing things to cabs which I've somehow missed?

You could try a heavy duty version of the kind of fitting generally used on flight cases, with the twisty handle which pulls the two sections together. I'm sure I've seen some pretty large ones around which should do the job.
