want to invert dustcaps on 4 pd121's so they fit in a pair of assmx600.
i was thinking cut them out around where theyre glued in and jusst stick them in again the other way.
someone just said not to do that and to soke the glue around the cap in thinners, take them out carefully and then glue them back in with liquid rubber or dunlop
what should i do? cant  be too hard surely? would take them to a proffesional but i live in cornwall so not an option

I think you'll find that you need different dustcaps, as the normal ones will probably hit the pole piece when inverted. The inverted ones are normally flatter and don't have the gluing flange round the edge like the normal ones, since the paper is already curving the right way. Tony.A.S.S. over on the FSP forum is probably the best person to ask though.

Roy turbomax will proberbly sell you some dustcaps, like Wrighty said you need to know how far foward the pole peice comes.

Or ask Tony ASS as he had that driver modifyed for that phaze plug.

done many

cut out the dust cap as close to the edge as possible, I did this by bending the blade against the cone to get as close as possible, turn around and glue back

don't bother getting different dust caps, if its too close use a hardboard spacer/ring to bring the driver away from the rear of the bung

another alternative I did on the first night of carnival back at the workshop
I inverted some dust caps by kettle steaming them and pushing them in, this was very effective, and no cutting involved

a member on here blew all our midrange when we went of something to eat you see
so the sunday night I had to get me thinking head on (cuppa tea slice cake aunt sally), and steam did the trick

Yep,done the same thing here Mike..a surgical scalpel is the best tool, with a new blade fitted, but be careful not to cut through the cone lead-in wires (which can lie directly below the dustcap glue-line).
Be seeing you.

Hello Mykey,

I think they mean the dustcap itself may hit the pole piece when inverted, not so much the phase bung.

Best regards,

Walt
