Woooh!, good spot - that's going to be a fun one to pop into the 'watching' folder........ So, on the new scale of 'value', I'm reckoning my Citronic Iowa has to be worth what?, £35k?...

I like your thinking Greg. So if anybody wants my Matamp Supernova mixer am willing to start the bidding at £50k plus £100k each for any of my ASS Concert Cabs, lovely jubbly. This time next year we'll be millionaires!
As a confession I must admit I used one of these babies just once for my first ever solo mobile gig back in 1978 when I was a mere 15 years old and I hired it from a mate who was older and should have been wiser. All the bass gain appeared in the first twenty degrees of travel on the bass pot. So you either ran with max bass boost or no bass at all, but when you are playing Instant Replay
at somebody's office party it doesn't seem to matter. Please forgive me my friends, it all got much better after that.

I won one very similiar just before christmas it was a SW I paid 99p and collected it in the middle of all the snow and the guy insisted he gave me the 1p change from a pound coin
I only wanted the BSR turntables that were perfect same as the ones in this console I think the seller of this one must have seen some of the Thames 11 consoles going for £200 and thought he would make a killing IT is a total waste of listing charges etc as that will never get a bid as JBLman suggests it is worth £30 at tops I will be watching it for sure !! |

Just looked at all the pics
The Simms Watts sign would sell for decent money as it is the same as on the 100watt valve heads which are very sought after Ill give you £35 for the Iowa Greg ?? |

Having spent the past 15 years looking at prices of vintage gear, the one main constant for value has to be desirability.
Just because something was made in the 1970's doesnt make it valuable....you only have to look at some of the low-end vintage hifi rubbish such as Amstrad,Furguson,Sanyo and the like on Ebay.....it was crap when it was new,and is still crap now.
But find some nice clean desirable hifi,and the prices are amazing...Nakamichi TT1000 tape deck,Tannoy Arden/Berkeley speakers,Technics SP10 turntable,JBL L100/Olympus/Summit/Paragon speakers etc,and the sky's the limit.
Same applies to vintage disco gear....if it was rubbish new,its still rubbish now.
As Martin says, the seller has probually seen a desirable Citronic Avon/Kansas/Thames etc at a high price, and thought his was the same.

The car boot season has started early this year by the look of it---idiots picking stuff up for pennies and thinking they are gonna get a fortune for it on Ebay.

They were crap when they were made and unlike wine they don't improve with age! Let's hope no one bids much on these thinking they are quality vintage units.
