The ironic thing is he also has a Lowery organ listed in his other items @ £225.00

Never criticise another man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. Once you have, call him what you like, you're a mile away and you've got his shoes!

I'm gutted I missed the auction, I could have got a crafty snipe in at the last moment. Oh well, maybe he would relist it if I asked him to?

I'd like to be able to contact the seller for permission to use the images on my website though, as this is the model I started out with at my local youth club, in about 1975

That's what I thought. But he probably thinks he can get a good no-win-no-fee deal on a plagiarism claim, and I wouldn't want to risk it.
Incidentally, I seem to remember we replaced the original crystal cartridges (BSR X5H I think) with ceramics (SC12M). A bit less output, but it improved the sound quality. The amp was a H|H IC100, the speakers some nondescript columns badged 'Impact' and each containing 4 10" Elac drivers.

Sound-to-light unit was a very early Pulsar (of Cambridge - they're still going!) Soundlite, with the electronics constructed on Veroboard! Unfortunately, I don't still have it, as it was faulty, but I do still have a letter from Paul F Mardon of Pulsar, offering fault-finding advice. Hey, maybe I could flog that on eBay! Anyone suggest a buy-it-now price?

LOL That's really funny! made to Altec spec, What with an inbuilt amp? unlikely I'could just imagine someone with one of these either side of the telly.

But you have to take your hat off to such a display of optimism. Switch one of these on and that will be your day ruined.

Those 'Toa/Altec/Yeh Right' cabs seem to be doing the eBay merry-go-round anyway. They've been on at various prices for about the last six months. started off at £1950, IIRC, and have come down a bit each time they go back up unsold... with the description embellished a little bit each time as well.

The best bit, if you ask me is, "These speakers hold their own and no current speaker or vintage speaker can out perform these at ANY price!". Now that's quite some claim! Cuz they ain't no better than me Skytec's.Big smile
