I wonder if anyone ever gets lucky with these kind of adverts? Guess there's always someone out there who thinks they’re getting a bargain.

it's all just cardboard and magnets really

I read it as just one cab too so strictly for the fans of monophonic reproduction then. Wish I still had the six Altec flares from my 1980s disco rig, surely I could get a five figure sum for them these days?LOL

Never criticise another man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. Once you have, call him what you like, you're a mile away and you've got his shoes!

Funny thing is I've noticed over the past couple of months some of the vintage amps are creeping up in price, whether people are getting these prices is another thing.

The last HH S500 on fleabay sold for £126 I was paying 50 quid for them not so long ago.

Its just a rarity thing now Colin i believe...to find a nice working s500d in clean reasonable condition is hard now (as most are bashed up/broken/scruffy) that a clean one will allways make a good price....same applies to the V800, Studiomaster 800b/c and Crown DC300a and ppx 900/1200/1600.

Well I have all I need for now anyway, I have done a deal with the last of my V800's to pick up another 2 x S500's so I now have 5 in total so I now have more amps than cabs?
It'll sure make for an interesting rack if only for the weight (although there will only be 4 in it)

I've been lucky as all the amps are in really good condition and the only thing I have to to is change the inputs/outputs on one of them as it has bnc connectors on it (and jack outputs) so we are a happy rabbit (until I have to get the rack up a flight of stairs of course)

I must say although rewarding, the vintage way does have it's down sides. I've had to build a ramp at the side of my house so I can get the rack down the 3-4 stairs (very narrow) because I couldn't cope (I am 55yo now) and that was just with a couple of V800's mixer and processing in.
