I built 10 MT122s in one go. It is a period of my life I'd rather forget.  The reason I will end up using Porn Horns in my new mid tops is because I really can't be arsed going through the hassle again.  If you want to delude yourself that they are a simple build then feel free, but don't try and convince others of this.

I think I'd rather dive in with some fibreglass than build an MT122 out of wood.  Had enough trouble with one folded horn prototype!

Incidentally, I rebated all the joints of said horn prototype.  Problem is it's so well built I can't knock it apart to try a different design!  1 day of building, hour or so of testing and it's scrap!

I have built MT122s as per Rogs' plans...

They are hard...much harder than PD1850 horns...to cut and assemble....

But they are not impossible...

I concur with Norty, though....For a pair of cabs I used about £90 worth of ply alone...Add screws, glues, fittings, paint, grilles (definitely needed), etc you are in for £150-£175 per pair cabinets just in material!

I reckon that it took about 50hrs of actual build time to construct a pair....so let's say £10 per hr (cheap)...£500 a pair looks a bargain!

the bit i am going to repeat for the benefit of everyone and anyone who
fancies these boxes is where rich points out they contain not 1 square bit
of wood. everything is either trapezoidal, mitred, or extreme
combinations of the two, and i mean extreme.

i have the sketch alluded to in the thread "mitre angles in the mt122
flare". if anyone wants it i can probably find a way of hosting it, it does
demonstrate that these angles are relevant in construction and they are
not provided for you in the plans. they are by far the most complex
design on this site in my humble opinion (arrogant actually, but it's only
an expression).

as rich says though, they do sound cool.

inner vertical flare piece = 3.5 degrees.

outer vertical flare piece = 7 degrees.

everything else is on the drawing, or easily calculated from what is given. if
that still doesn't do it, shout and i'll try and mark up a drawing and post/
email it to you.
