Hey Everyone, Was Really Hoping that Someone Could Help....!!!
I Need to find either a replacement JBL 2206H or Possible modern/not discontinued equivalent/upgrade that's a really nice driver & might poss measure the same or about the same.....I'm assuming that a recone might be out of the Question as the Coil is Corroded and stuck fast in the slot....Although they had obviously been stored somewhere quite damp before they came to me.....it wasn't like that before it last went into my really quite dry container....doh...etc....But as I'm assuming that it's prob corrosion I'm assuming that the slot might be more than a little furry and possibly beyond repair.....???

It's for a Pair of Amadeus MBP 600 tops 12"+1 Which were French and equivalent and bought new in preference by the previous owner, to the D&b Nexo Martin etc of the time as about 4000 euros for the pair.....and Were Equipped with JBL 2206H's for the 12" mid bass driver.  Which are Obviously no longer available So Would Be Extremely Grateful if Anyone could help me towards either finding a replacement or modern equivalent that is still easily available....I believe that the 2226HPL is considered equivalent but also long discontinued....But They are very much valued as my Poshest Tops for Live Work and So Would Really Like to Get them Serviced and Back to their former Glory and as Original as Possible.....Or Poss even Better than Original if anyone Could Throw in any Suggestions for Possible Upgrades to the 2206H's that measure in a very similar way.....So would be extremely Grateful for any Suggestions or Help Anyone could throw my way....!!!!

Similarly I'd Also Be Really Grateful if anyone could recommend a Good Recone Service as Well as is another possible option and I Also Have a Fane 15" XB Which I'd Also Really Like to Get Done

Thanks So Much Everyone in Advance & Be Really Grateful for Anything You Guy's Have to Say.

Chris :)

Having done some fairly extensive research this evening....it seems that the closest thing to a modern equivalent to the JBL 2206H is the Beyma 12LX60 V2....and tbh looking at every aspect of the design except for the basket from the power handling to the 4 inch coil and Xmax and even the ribbed pattern embossed in the Cone and the number and shape of the ribs in the speaker surround it def looks almost conclusively that Beyma set out to produce a refined version or refined very close copy of the JBL 2206H poss as an answer to JBL retiring what was at the time an extremely well regarded driver at the time....But a little further research threw up a couple of references to it being the most suitable drop in replacement for the 2206H and JBL's Equivalent the 2226HPL Neodymium driver that is still available and able to be sourced....

So needless to say it seems like I'll try to drop a couple of the Beyma 12LX60 V2's into the Amadeus MPB 600's and try to A/B them against the JBL 2206H's and report Back in the Next Couple of Weeks as Regards Sound and Performance...But I'm hoping that they should be very close and looking at the Spec's hopefully possibly a slight or even marked improvement as although the MBP 600's were Sounding Pretty mint and Very detailed....realistically the new drivers should be very close to spec and aren't 30 years old.....and also seem to have a reputation for detail even when played softly in addition to impressive power handling....But will wait and see and report back as soon as I can.....as there doesn't seem to be too much info around on a 2206H replacement available through the usual channels so hoping that it might be useful to Someone els in the future....!!!!

Thanks So much everyone Once Again & Report Back Soon.....

There's still plenty of used working drivers about on eBay.

Hi,
Just to clear up some of this - the 2226 isn't an equivalent to the 2206 (in the sense that you might use one as a direct replacement for the other), as the 2226 is a 15" rather than the 2206 being a 12".

They are however from the same series of drivers, so have similar pros & cons when used appropriately.

Also, neither of them uses neodymium magnets, they're both very definitely ferrite.

I assume you were actually thinking of the 2262, which is indeed their neo 12" that has been used in many applications where a 2206 might previously have been.

Hi all yes I do still have six good JBL 2206 12" drivers for sale, all are in good working condition with original cones and were used on my home audio system so not thrashed,
I'm looking to sell them in pairs as Ian said at £200 per pair.

Hey Everyone, Thanks Everyone So much for All of Your Help and Generous Input and replies too......!!!!!!

I Knew there might be a few 2206's about but they're not always advertised...so thought I might well be on the wrong side of the right place right time equation....So JBLman really appreciate you putting me in touch with Colint as well.....!!!!

And Colint Thanks so much will be in touch as soon as money clears on the 18th....

Also DMorrison....Thanks So much for Picking it up and Correcting me on the 2262 being the correct Neo magnet and slightly more recently available replacement for the 2206......

I'll have to blame it on my mashing the keyboard in error slightly later in the evening than I possibly should have been...... But, very much appreciate your correcting the accuracy of the info on the thread for everyone's benefit in the future....

As I'd previously found info for a viable replacement for the 2206 somewhat scant and very hard to find....So hopefully people can find it here if it comes up on their search in the future.....

Also Similarly from what felt like a somewhat invidious situation of having to rely on discontinued stock for my favourite tops gain on into the future...... It felt like absolute Gold to find out that the Beyma 12LX60 V2 might be a viable drop in replacement and possibly even a slight upgrade, to perform the same duties as a 2206....as a future proofed (& for the moment at least...) easily available replacement for the 2206

Especially as the supply of viable 2206's in good condition inevitably starts to dwindle and run out in the future as well....!!!!

And Thanks Everyone So much for Your Generous Help and Replies Once Again....!!!!!

Also Colint, How would you like me to get in touch.......& Would be Amazing to just check which version of the 2006's you Have as I'm aware there might have been one or two iterations over the years.....it's Also Really nice to hear that they've had a reasonably easy life in a fairly critical listening application while they've been with you too....!!!!

Thanks So much for Everything Once Again....!!!!  Chris :)

....Also Thought that the links for easy access to the Data Sheet's for the JBL 2206's and Beyma 12LX60 V2's might be useful as a resource for anyone landing here in the future....!!!!

Chris will likely have to make a few more posts before his PM's are activated - IIRC it's 10 before they get unlocked to deter spammers etc.
