What a c#nt!

I don´t do many dry hires, but always take photos of the people and the vehicles/reg nos. Addresses are easier to fake than vehicle details!

Sorry to hear that - couple of tips which I can give as ive almost been ripped off a few times :-

If they are paying cash, make sure they give you two forms of ID which consists of :-

1) passport or driving licence
2) debit/credit card - ideally with a bank statement showing address

The reason is that its more difficult to fake both with matching names and credentials.

Take reg no of car too.

Even better if you can - get them to pay you by paypal as those details are traceable, but do that on top of the couple things mentioned above. Then make sure the person whose paypal account it is is the actual person hiring, and not their mate.

I've been told im a little strict when it comes to this sort of thing, but this thread is the reason why. Any genuine person will be more than happy to leave the correct details.

This guy took 4 CDJ2000 and 1 DJM900 From us West End DJ!

He paid on a debit card, which matched the Drivers licence (we made a copy) and his passport (we made a copy too)

There is an extremely generous reward for the person that helps us find this guy.

Apparently the Police (For us its a Westminster unit) have found the bloke who claims to have sold the kit on?!?!

Reading this thread,it would appear he is a serial offender,as he has now stolen gear from three different members...makes you wonder how many others he has scammed too, hire shops, etc.

Hope the police can aprehend him ASAP.

From the locations of the people he has stolen from, looks like he is London-based,so,as Kevin says on the previous page, contact all the london cash converters/cash exchangers incase your gear is offered there.
Be seeing you.

Not around here - and I thought that faking reg plates in the UK was a lot more difficult now as well.

Cheers boys, printed out mugshot, and added him to our "Wall Of Shame".

To be honest, if the guy has got genuine ID, there isn't much you can do.....The fact it is out of date is your only wriggle, we insist on 3xID, all with name address (passport is allowed) but bills must be recent, 1-2 months. Still leaves you vulnerable, so we charge significant deposits, so we are not the lowest hanging fruit.

Vehicle reg, that he drives off in, is useful to Plod. Verify that the reg he gives you, is the vehicle he actually drives of in, worth checking tax disc matches too....You do it by kindly offering to help him load the car with gear.
