Hi i am a furniture maker, here is a tip that will slove the washing powder problem!!
I like the idea of eliminating screws on the outside of the cab, shape 50X50mm pine battens in a slight curve. cramp either side across the final side to be glued, this will evenly distribute presure when cramped on the far edges. on the x1 cab, i would use 4 battens with 8 sash cramps. hope i have explained this well!! chris
