hey
yeah all compression drivers need some EQ at the top end to compensate for the effects of the CD horn, google CD horn EQ and you'll get some ideas. k |

True, with comp's and horn
yes higher the frequency lower the efficiency, so will need a bit of EQ to make up for this.

hey
As you get closer to a compression drivers top end it naturally starts to beam and be less efficient. The compression driver CD (constant directivity) horn then takes what is a smaller amount of sound to start with an spreads it out even further trying to counteract the beaming and make it stick to the coverage pattern, diluting it even more. So there are some fairly specific requirements needed to help even this out and boost the top end to make it flat again. Its an actual thing that needs compensated for on all comps and horns, be it by the passive internal crossover or by the active external one. As I said if you google constant directivity horn EQ you'll find loads of info and suggestions, for example..... http://www.peavey.com/support/technotes/soundsystems/horn_eq.cfm k Edited by kevinmcdonough - 04 November 2013 at 9:13pm |
