The longer winding depth is so the driver's excursion has 'headroom'. As soon as it starts moving then the magnet has less control over it straight  away, so there's a tiny bit of distortion already. 


BMS published the specification they intended imo, but it's still 5.5mm 'real' xmax. Faital Pro would give this driver 8.2mm LOL

According to bms it has "triple demodulating rings" which should keep magnetic field from getting out of the gap anyway. Not like on the pic where field is getting out.

With its gap height 8mm and winding deepth 19mm it cant have xmax 3.5.
