Hi Guys.
I finally got round to taking some snaps of the new rig. It is all about efficiency from a 'compact' system built from as few boxes as possible, with very easy flying capability of the main brunt of the frequency bandwidth. Ultimately it will be nice to augment the rig with suitable sub boxes, but for now I am happy with 50hz and up. Pictured here with the JBL dsc 260 processing and JBL amplifier. I am now searching for an MPX300 for the compression drivers, but for now am using a little Peavey amp to run the comps-didnt include it in the shots, it looked out of place in a completely JBL system. The rig has been built up with eco in mind so the whole thing makes the most of the very high cone area of the 6 jbl 2206 bass drivers and the very high sensitivity of the 2451J mounted to a 2" adaptor and onto the 2360a beasts. even running from the 12v power amp (360wrms) this system can take your head off. 15-20 hrs of off-grid music from a small 220ah battery pack. My aim is to infiltrate the very popular 'off grid and solar' festivals with this quite avante garde looking system. offering efficient off grid services to small festivals and events out doors where high output, non bass orientated music and/or prominent vocal re-inforcement might be required. Going for generator power instead of clean n green, with 4 mini scoops, a second MPX1200 and the MPX300 on the tops, I'll also hope to be more viable as a louder music playback system, though I'd hope this system could be considered as a viable mid/high section to sit above 8 or more full size scoops. This is a rig I have been planning for many years and only now have I managed to acquire all the parts and assemble them into a complete system. I will be adding some JBL VHF tweeters to the system if i can bring myself to modify the large horns to stealthily accommodate some VHF slots.. Hope you like it guys:)

cheers guys:) glad you guys like the look of it. I think it could be a bit of a marmite style rig in terms of looks. certainly a form follow function type of look, which imo works.

very nice - ivor green bass cabs?
Maybe some sort of larger base for the flares that could hold a slot and bullet? go back 30 years, you would have done knebworth size shows with not too many flares that size.

hey man. yep. I think they are ivor green cabs. lots of tell tale signs in the construction. well made from 13 lam birch. carpet cleaner was worth it. they looked nasty when i got them, for the drivers mainly, but thought it would be a waste to not use the cabs based on the quality of construction. I see some simialr cabs being built one day, slightly deeper, leaving bare varnished birch on show, then spraying the horns cream or something.

The 2451j comp is horn loaded down to 500hz if required, but is currently run from 630hz and upwards.
once I get round to rewiring the cabinets, the upper most 12" will be running from 50hz up to meet the 2", where the two lower 12" will be running 50hz-110hz. kind of a 2.5 way system. the 3 12" units will sum between 50-110hz. |
