Hey guys , been out of the game for a few years but got the bug again lol
recently acquired some Martin 115 as love them! Just need some cosmetic care!
But there is a annoying noise as if it's distorting and can't find what it is! I have orberton 15b450 which are a decent match for them , cabs are solid! Only running 200w+ through them when noise starts and gets worse as I drive them more , can hear it when stand at back of cab , driver is moving but barely , it stops completely when I remove rear panel? Could it be that even though it's very secure? Thanks |

How many cabs are there - and are they all doing it? It does sound like a loose panel somewhere. |

just got a couple at the mo , one is doing it as far as I can see so far , I was looking abit closer and realized the baffle cut is slightly larger than the drivers baffle , maybe this could be the cause! Could posibly be unloading the rear of driver!

Ok so played around with them again and noticed one still sounds like its becoming unloaded at higher power , I also noticed the the same one has had the blue capacitor removed and has alot more wadding where as the other one that is playing awesome still has it all blue capacitor and less wadding?
Souldnt make a difference would it? Rear access panel is solid with 22 fixings around it! Thinking it might be a cab leak somewhere but haven't noticed anything! any ideas guys? Thanks?

How are you driveng them? And what xover points? Do you have a xover/LMS? The capacitor is DC protection, but will also have a roll-off to stop too much LF power getting to the speaker, so one missing would make a difference. What value is the cap?

Ah ok , knew it was a DC cap! Didn't know it had a roll off!
Could be making sense now! Will have a ply around abit more and cut off abit higher. tested them at 50hz , maybe abit low for the one without cap Edited by Joey carlo - 22 October 2018 at 7:07pm |
