I have a venue we do a lot of tech for.
They have these absolutely horrible plastic battery powered speakers with twin microphone I think they are made by QTX. Sound like utter trash, batteries last about 10 seconds microphones feel like ice cream cones. Now, I obviously want them to buy LSP500's but these are A out of the budget they want to spend and B to valuable to be left with their mic dropping wedding clientel. Now there must be a middle ground people are using? Thoughts? Jace

The JBL Eon One Compact might be worth a look. Looking at the specs, you can buy additional batteries for it, and they can be swapped out in seconds. The older ones I've used had a motorbike battery which needed dismantling to swap. The reviews seem very positive too.

Bit of an outcast but I've been borrowing a friends Alto Transport 12s for a few gigs. Battery life is decent enough for moderate speech / low level music. Recharge time isn't too bad and the platic RF mic actually is usable with switchable bands! They are discontinued but might be worth checking out newer models?
