Yeah exactly! MT120 it is
That way it gives you a whole load more flexibility, either MT121 or 122s, or the 12 mid section, and then an alternative HF section... Id be interested to try out various different HF configs, maybe including 8 or 6 inch horn plus comp or something involving bullets reggae style...
hahaha I havent even started the first 121s yet!

I've got some nice 8" RCFs to try in conjunction with the M120
Of course - remember where the wood is? :-) |

The flares have been started, with not much sucess yet...
Im gonna blame it on the glue for the time being
Was thinking though... HF driver
Would a 1.4" do, or is a 2" needed? Would crossing at 800Hz put too much strain on a 1.4"?
Also any comps you lot have tried or can suggest looking at??
Same with 12" drivers actually
Maybe something between the P-audio BMD750 and the beyma CP750/755 range. Beyma may be a bit expensive for the time being, yet iv heard theres better than the Paudio BMD, and better would be good :)
peace

Right, next idea to quiz you on... haha Waveguide for the 12"??
I was considering adding a smallish brace, mainly for aesthetics rather than reducing resonance. Any thoughts/opinions? Was considering a vertical piece of wood, closer to the front than the rear of the horn...

Any thoughts on a vertical waveguide for the mid?
Wont consist of much, but will it affect the sound?

Waveguide? A waveguide is usually a horn without compression (aka a flare). What do you mean? Are you talking about a sort of fin in the centre as on the Stasys?
800hz is no problem for a 1/4" as long as the horn is big enough. Try one of the BMS, they're quite vaunted for LF handling due to their ring radiator design.

Yeah i mean a kind of fin, sorry not a waveguide, as you could call the 12"flare a waveguide (as its not a horn)
I mean basically just a vertical bit of wood, not very wide. so no phase plug thing going on, probably not even going to the back of the flare. have cut something about the right shape, im gonna pop it in and see what its like (just to see if theres any effect on dispersion/sound (below 800hz i doubt it would though right?)
do you mean 1.4" or 1/4"?? Edited by gwarntek - 19 May 2009 at 6:25pm |
