Does anyone on here know how to get in touch with Calum? I ordered and paid for a mini rig from him when he was taking last orders in Nov 23, its still not been delivered, I haven't heard from him since August last year and he's not replying to my emails.
I don't want to have to escalate to legal action, but I will do if necessary. So if anyone can get in touch with him, this would be a great help.

After seeing these it makes me think a La Scala would have very little sub and an unfortunate time domain issue / enclosure resonance just above 100hz
https://www.stereophile.com/content/klipsch-la-scala-al5-loudspeaker-measurements https://www.hifinews.com/content/klipsch-la-scala-al5-loudspeaker-lab-report It's a shame a speaker that size and 91kgs is lacking in low frequency content quality as they look loverly. On that note... Devon OJAS has done some great work bringing hifi back into the mainstream and to a new generation, but at the end of the day he's an ex clothing designer/fashion guy outsourcing old altec/JBL remix builds to his joinery/chippy contacts, and as far as I can tell he doesn't do the builds himself. All the power to him though for doing his thing and making bank from his passions and he very much has an eye for popular/current visual design. that said...I vote for a self-build! One of lifes great pleasures is kicking back and listening to speakers you've slaved away conceiving, simulating, CAD'ing/designing, constructing and assembling, sanding & finishing, then finally (DSP) processing into a literal piece of organic and functional art... your own babies. You might swear, cry, and bleed in the process but you'll be better for it, and appreciate them so much more, and learn a lot in the process! Edited by vertx - 20 January 2025 at 12:27pm |

Correct they need a sub, even back in the '80's I thought they lacked lowend. This box is the reason I learned to hate horn midranges, these things are unlistenable beyond a watt or so of input as delivered IMO, the mids and highs just get too harsh. DSP processing to time align everything and correct the worst response anomalies would do wonders though. P.S. I like the looks of this, if that is still too big scale it down to a 15" sub with 8" mids and HF horn. ![]() Edited by Conanski - 05 February 2025 at 7:24pm |

Pretty dissapointing to see that the CAL minirig sub is just one of the many designs he stole from others. I designed this sub. The design rights are solely in my name so it cannot be licenced in anyway, although I am glad its under creative commons.
Anyways drama aside, let me know if you would like plans for the sub.
