Mini rig for home listening / mixing / house party

   a few of my friends now have come to me interested in getting some speakers and i really have no idea what to recommend them. 

they're after a set of speakers that they can have at home for listening to records, mixing on, and playing tunes loud at the weekends. so they've got to sound good and not be too big. but also something they can use for the odd house party, and take to the park for a little sesh now and again. 

do you have any reccos i can pass on? commercially available stuff too i guess, open to all options.

maybe without a subwoofer too to keep the footprint down....

	What is the budget? And as I read it , it has to be ran of a battery system?

	no, not battery :) i've got no idea of their budget, neither of them will have loads of cash to splash, but equally they are open to something that will serve them well. so open to all options.

	So, you have mains AC power in your park? Else, you will require something AC AND BATTERY powered, for your needs??

	For home use, the most cost effective solution is probably to keep an eye out for some 5-8" + HF install speakers on eBay, etc. and do a little sub to go along with them. For taking to the park I would leave the sub at home, it's going to be more trouble than it's worth... I've got a set of old Turbosound Impact 65T that I use as general portable speakers (take them on site when I'm working, etc.) and they don't really need a sub underneath them for general music use. They power up nicely off a TPA3116 amp I got for cheap from aliexpress which is easy to run from batteries too :)

	A pair of RCF Art912-A runs about a grand new, is plug-and-play aka idiot-proof, and would do all those jobs admirably.

	yeah those RCF art are amazing. friend has the 710. sound fab, super light, well made. i think in this case, homie wants something interesting that will spark joy. or at least something he can have a little fiddle with (so a commercial passive cab at the minimum)

	How about this:- Pair of Celestion KR2, 8" co-axials. Old as the hills but BRAND NEW Drivers fitted along with upgraded crossovers. Come with mic stand mounts and a heavy duty padded gig bag. Phonic 4 channel powered mixer, 100w a side and fits neatly in the gig bag. £125.00 the lot plus post. For the park you can go to 12v battery and small inverter.
