Whats the opinion on "Shortmans mini scoop"?

To my eyes it is clearly a reflex with a long port.

So are you saying that 1/2 a 18'' reflex (g-sub) should sound the same as one of Shortman's Mini's ?

Nope, because a Gsub doesnt have a really long large port, and the chambers are totally different.

But alot of people disagree, why is that?

Maybe because they sound good especially for the reggae music lovers ? But not liked by the guys who prefer fast attack style bass-lines ?

I cant argue with that, but just because it sound good with reggae lovers doesnt make it a scoop.

This is the most accurate term, or a horn assisted something. Geek

To be honest, Shortman himself has said it is not a "really" a scoop, but performs as a mini scoop would.

It definetly has rear horn loading, but as you have suggested very small mouth.

So its not strictly a scoop, but has rear chamber, and throat, so is plenty more than a reflex.

Yes, I used a quantum mirror from Stargate, jumped into a parallel reality, went to your house and borrowed your cabs (before you sold the drivers), took them down to shortmans and took a pic, then returned the cabs/drivers.Wink

I Think jake was pretty close.. but if you look at thos pics you can see a angled baffle... so I rackon its closer to this :

So... it has a throat.. and expension... so is kinda scoop like... I still reckon it works more like a long (low) ported reflex tho.

You are probably right, i wasnt sure if i was seeing a straight panel with a triangle piece or an angled panel.

Things i know for sure:

The two triangle bits on the right hand side are correct.
The throat is at the bottom of the chamber.
After the throat the "horn path" (port!) goes up to the top then to the bottom right, then exits through the port.
