What do you think about this kick-bin?

Here is MKH230 (Red) (RCF MB12G401) vs HD215 (Black) (PD154):

It looks very goodWink!

Best Regards, Giacomo.

Any opinions? It's strange this kick/midbass horn utilizes driver with Qts=0.27 and BL=17 (using MB12G301 - only this data available on off. site). Though the driver is rated "mid-bass" on off. site.

17 pretty decent Bl for a 12. Theres 2 of them. 0.27 qt's wont sound so hard and brings out the lows. combine this with 48g moving mass for good transients. should make a very nice sound.

Iv'e been wanting to build 4 of these for a while now, it's very hard to find anyone with even photos of them in a stack, let alone build pics... Apparently they go high enough 250-300hz without honking, good to meet my 8'' Horns.. big cabs though, i'm leaning towards a simple 1 fold 15 that will play high enough 300 ish..

This is appealing... I'd love to read opinions of this box but you're right it's damn huge!
If it were that good, surely we'd see them being built?

pics of its brother, MKB-230

The MKH-230 is a pretty new design, so in time I'm sure we'll see them popping up. I've ordered 4 x MB12G301 and plan to build MKB-230 singles.

I'm not that impressed.

Please bear in mind that the plot has the MKH-230s fed with twice the power of the HD15s (4 ohm vs. 8 ohm).

Also mind that each RCF driver costs the same as a PD154 so we're also talking about a twice as expensive speaker.

Third. The HD15 plot is designed for 1/4 space use and the MKH-230 is appearantly for 1/2 space use. Separate things entirely.

As you say, separate things entirely, who care's about the plot really.

sorry. What i mean is, to me the plot gives you an idea of what range the cab is potentially capable of playing. This is then useful for deciding whether or not a cab is suitable for your intended purpose.
