Hi folks, so I’m just playing around with a little project at the moment, for an off the grid system. Won’t have more than 100 watts per mid/top. What would you folks recommend.

Yes, I´d look for something (oldish) from JBL or EV - or even an old ATC, eg PA75, etc. All with good SPL and response. |

If you can find any, JBL E130 15"...will give a whopping 105db/w/m. i
dont know of any other driver this sensitive, other than,as Earplug
says, the ATC 12" monster mid ,M1230, which was 108db/w/m.
Due to rarity nowdays ,both will be quite expensive. |

Be seeing you.

So? I doubt you'll give it more than 100w anyway.

Once you've high passed to something suitable, there isn't much power left to balance it all, and while you might try to get 130db outta it, chances are you're using more than one cab with less actual power per cab.

Actually, this was one of the drivers that stood out for me! I know its a 450w driver, but I see no reason why it couldn't do the biz in the right cabinet, fed 100w, or am i missing something?

Nah, it was me.. I missed the detail a little, in that I though it HAD to be a 100w driver to fit your critera. I never did find that 6+% driver. Maybe I was dreaming. |
