Hi,
Looking to build an MT122 but noticed that the designs don't include a cut list. Is there one available? Also is there a 2x15 version

I never seen an cutlist for MT122,but there is an MT121 version drawn in sketchup from where you can make an cutlist, however is the 15mm ply version.I have 2 MT121 and are bloody heavy,MT122 must be horrible, imagine an 15" version.

It's for an install so doesn't matter much about weight. Didn't really want to be learning a program to get my answer tbh so if anyone has made a cut list for this I'd much appreciate it :-)

15mm is fine, its not the weight that would make a 15" version useless mostly its teh fact that it wont drop noticably lower and will not play as well up heigher so would become purely a low midrange horn that doesnt play very low if you need more output/extension a different design is best for you

Hi Mark,
Was aiming for 18mm anyway, but if the 15 mm was going to do the full range then that'd be cheaper, obviously not lol. Still after a cutting list. Is the designer on here at all?

i'm not sure what you're looking for exactly? nearly all the pieces you'll have to cut are irregular shapes. there's a lot of time involved in building these.. it won't take you much longer to sit down with the plan yourself and work out all the cuts you have to make. worth doing anyway for a full understanding of what you're building.
you're new on the site so we don't know your level of experience either... have you built many boxes before? the mt122 are not an easy build. but totally doable. |

My intention was to get all the pieces cut by my local timber merchant and then assemble the pieces. I've only built cabs for guitar and bass, but have a couple of buddies that can help me put this together if need be. The cutting list would be handy so I can send it to my timber merchant, and if so many of the users on here have made these then I would have thought you guys would have a cutting list if you think that it helps to understand the build. I already have a grasp of the drawings but would like to have the cutting list, which you'd think would be part of the speaker design schematics.

i suppose they're just difficult to write out as a list.
i've always cut my own wood so always thought of it as part of the process. look for the simplified MT121 plan, it's probably better documented. and then you can work out how to make a double of it. the mt boxes are tricky builds though. well the trickiest bit is doing the cuts.. i don't even know how i'd write out a list of parts in a way others would understand. i did draw the box out myself in CAD before i started cutting, and just did it piece by piece. |

Probably best to take the MT121 plan, break it down to get the size of the 12" driver chambers, double that and then add the HF horn to the sizing and that'd probably get you the same result as the MT122?

It is an old topic that has been abandoned for many years, but maybe there is another specialist here who can help me?
I would like to ask for your kind help. And sorry for the bad English - I don't have English as my mother tongue, I'm Hungarian and have Russian ancestors! :) I would build a pair of MT122 for my own home disco. I am not a carpenter, but an electrical engineer and, moreover, a very impatient person. I understand the transistor and everything else that is electric. But I don't understand carpentry! I see a lot of successful MT122 rebuilds on Youtube and elsewhere. I want to ask for a cutting list because I don’t have the time and patience to measure it. My timber dealer cuts it to the exact size, and assembling it is no longer a problem for me! Thanks for the help, there will definitely be someone here who has the full MT122 cutting list! Best regards: Cherenkow |
