here
are some (640 x 480, mobile phone i'm afraid) pictures of the build of our
scaled mt122 single driver 10" mids dispersed with pictures of some
parties and other stuff. i will put it in order at some point.

as can be seen we don't need to finish our cabinets, round the edges
over, fill and paint them before taking them out to play. nah, screw the
consequences and let's hear what they can do! battle scars have alredy
been sustained.

Looks good, like the dome.

What drivers are your using in your 10" versions?  How high do you cross them over?

they are mckenzie (made by fane, distributed i think by monacor at
present) model c10-100gp. i got 12 of them cheap, if i was buying new
there is the c10-200gp or a couple of fane 10" that would do the job just
as nicely for a good price.

they were crossed at 240Hz over the martins and 3k under the 1.5"
compression drivers. this gives them a bit of meat in the signal but
means they can still be spanked without ever worrying about cone
excursion. they are only 100W drivers (but a fane 100W as opposed to an
eminence 100W) and are distictly on the loud side, with good projection.

at the party with just the scoops they were playing a little lower and i
don't think sounded as good, but they have increadible throw whatever. it
was crazy wandering round the site of that outdoor party, vocal samples
were so distinct, so far away, it was clearer than right in front of the
stack. so far i've only tried them with recorded music, although they
sounded quite fat for a funk and soul do so hopefully they would handle
live stuff with some aplomb.

bk electronics (bastions of the diy audio scene that they are) carried a full
mckenzie line until very recently. looking at their range and pricing i don't
think they actually have that much in stock, rather they just have a good
place in the supply chain. anyway, they might still be able to help you.

failing that, soundservices.co.uk are now the uk distributors for monacor
although they have no catalogue or anything. also, the mckenzie range
isn't easy to find on monacor's site, so maybe they are now historical. pity
as the spec of the c10-200m (sorry, my mistake, i don't think it was a gp)
looks pretty damn nice as a horn driver. the c10-100gp wasn't even
particularly expensive if i remember correctly and i'm digging mine. plus,
they are still a bit new and stiff and will get louder as time goes by.

it's all a bit odd and might even be worth contacting fane direct, although
they have never responded to my emails, the ignorant swine.
